Sony – PSP Design Club

From a New York florist to vintage wallpaper in Hastings to a mural in Southwark. Just three of the images in the photo chain that Fibre created as members of the Sony PSP Design Club (that’s Design Club, not Fight Club). One of ten boutique projects for the UK PSP launch, Design Club invited fourteen creatives such as David Adjaye, William Rowe, Chris Ofili and Fibre to celebrate the freedom of the creative process.
Over ten weeks, six members of Fibre played Photo Association – every image had to connect to the image before it by colour, subject or composition. In all 50 images were taken in the UK, USA and Australia. An exhibition of all the finished work was held at the Victoria Miro Gallery, in which Fibre presented the photo chain as a synchronised slideshow on two PlayStation Portables – see the video here.
As well as being a participant, Fibre created the Design Club website – a central hub that documented the ten week project. The blog format allowed all the participants to upload their work in progress whilst a separate section is a record of the work. Which all in all sounds a lot nicer than meeting in dingy basements…
